Interpreting deals with the spoken word NOT the written words… Do you know the different types of interpretation modes?

  • Consecutive – each speaker pauses after a few sentences to allow the interpreter to render the speech into the target language
  • Simultaneous –when the interpreter is speaking at the same time the speaker is speaking
  • Conference – using interpreting equipment mainly used with large audiences and in a simultaneous mode

When using an interpreter make sure that the interpreter knows and understands your industry, terminology in both the English language and the Target language…NOT ALL interpreters are able to interpret all areas of business…Example: A medical interpreter may ONLY be qualified, experienced to interpret in a Hospital, Physical Therapy, Medical Evaluations, etc…and MAY NOT have the experience to interpret in Legal, Technical or Conference settings…Alwaysmake sure that you ask about their
