Eating a vegetarian diet comes with many benefits: It reduces harm to the environment, cuts down on animal cruelty, and promotes health in the body, to name a few. However, while many people think that going vegetarian will automatically help them lose weight and live healthier, the vegetarian diet is much more than simply not eating meat. In order to lose weight safely and maintain your health, you have to make sure you are still getting the nutrition your body needs. Here are some essential tips for those who are considering the vegetarian lifestyle.

 

Cut Calories Wisely

 

No matter what kind of diet you do, eating fewer calories than you burn is how you lose weight. While it can be tempting to want to lose weight as fast as possible, it’s important that you do it gradually. Otherwise, you’ll be starving your body of the nutrition it needs; not only is this unhealthy, but it will make it more difficult to manage your weight once it’s down. Set a goal of losing no more than two pounds a week, which generally requires a deficit of 1,000 calories a day. You can also aid your weight loss by adding exercise to your routine. Be sure to consult your doctor to make sure your diet plan is safe for you to take on.

 

During your diet, there may be times when you feel hungrier than usual. When you live a vegetarian lifestyle, you have to make sure you eat enough protein in your diet. In fact, 30 to 40 percent of your daily caloric intake should be protein. While meat is a primary source of protein, there are more than enough vegetarian sources. For instance, chickpeas, quinoa, beans, lentils, tofu, and tempeh are common vegetarian foods that provide protein — and they can be included in a wide variety of dishes.

Choose Healthy Fats

Finally, it’s essential to make healthy fats a part of your diet. As with protein and carbs, how much fat you should eat depends on your body size and type. As a general rule of thumb, about 20 to 35 percent of your calories should consist of fats each day. Whatever kind of diet you follow, good fats are preferred over bad ones, and there are many ways to get good fats on a vegetarian diet. Avocado is one of the best sources, and it’s also one of the most popular among vegetarians. Other sources of healthy fats are oils, seeds, olives, flaxseed, and cheese.

If you’re going vegetarian, it’s important to ensure you’re getting the proper nutrition you need to remain healthy. Remember to cut your daily caloric intake gradually so that you can stay healthy and maintain your weight once you reach your goal. Look into all the good sources of protein, carbs, and fats so that you can form your meals and snacks around them. The vegetarian lifestyle can be very beneficial if you approach it mindfully.

As the holidays get closer, the bills pile up, the cost of living goes up and the problems don’t go away and now the year end comes to an end, so we may feel like #givingup – right? WRONG!

Like many of you, I have problems, I have struggles, I cry, I lock myself in the room and cry my self to sleep, I ask myself time and time again “Why Me, Why Me” and just can’t find a way out.  I feel that things just keep coming my way and more things keep thrown my way, more problems arise, more issues, etc… I sometimes say to myself “Why do I even try, Why do I continue, Why even do it, Why, Why, Why”…Well, I’ll tell you why!  Because, life is beautiful, life is great, life may have its ups and downs, life may throw things at us that we don’t like, but guess what? Not many, have the luxury of being alive!  There’s so may men, woman and children that wish they had one more day to go through the daily life struggles that we complain about everyday!

I know my father would have wished to be here one more day and would have preferred dealing with the daily struggles, drama, problems, so as long as he was able to see his grandkids alive, see his children get married, go camping, fishing, etc…So, STOP COMPLAING and STOP saying YOU, YES YOU!  That you want to GIVE UP!

I’ve been in this industry for over 18+ years.  I started as a “Freelance Interpreter” and within a few months, I started my own Interpreting agency.   While running my agency I was also Training New “Potential” Interpreters and teaching the Does and Don’ts of this wonderful Industry.

While things were running smoothly and business was great, unfortunately after years in business the economy crashed, but not only was this detrimental to the business, but also during this same time frame I was going through a bad pregnancy (I almost lost my Baby Girl) and to make matters worse my father was also diagnosed with Brain Cancer (Stage 4 Glioblastoma) who after just a few months passed away, my son was also in a body cast (femur fracture), and I was also recovering from a bad auto accident!…

With all these horrible and painful things going on I decided to close my business and go back to Freelancing, as well as Training New Potential Interpreters.  And believe me, I enjoy being a Freelancer more than running an Agency 🙂 Why, well I don’t have to deal with bureaucracy and headaches that come along with running a large business 🙂 Again, don’t get me wrong it’s a very lucrative business and industry to be in, but YOU MUST BE PREPARED to work around the clock to make your business work vs a Freelancer / Entrepreneur you get to work when you want, earn as much as you want and have the freedom that you want – sounds great, right?

Fast forward; Thankfully I survived the “Economy Crash” and here I am still enjoying this wonderful industry providing services to various companies across the Globe, but more importantly I get to Train and work with New Potential Interpreters.

On another note, you will see online that there are various Training programs focusing on Medical, Legal and Conference Interpretation / Certification; however, if you don’t have the Basic Skills and understanding as to how this industry works, or how to run your own freelance/entrepreneur business then let me tell you, you are ONLY setting yourself for failure! Why, well as you may be aware there are hundreds, if not thousands of young college students who go to College for years and years and after graduating they find themselves unable to obtain a job in their industry.  Why? Well, because during their years in College they never got into internships, nor did they work in a similar industry to mirror their college career goal, therefore making them Non-Competative!

Trust me when I say: Becoming a Certified Medical, Legal Interpreter is GREAT!

BUT…

If you don’t have the skills, qualifications, or understanding of this industry, YOU, MY FRIEND WILL NOT GET FAR!

Although I am NOT CERTIFIED, I do have OVER 18+ years of Professional experience, as well as the skills, the qualifications to work in any industry I choose…

My Daily Routine, what’s yours?

How many of you finished 2016 sick with flu, bronchitis and breathing issues?

I myself was hoping to start my 2017 with a BANG!…  

Unfortunately, this DID NOT happen – why???  Well, because I started my 2017 still sick with the flu, bronchitis, and asthma!

Does that mean I give up, or get depressed, or does it mean that I GET UP, FIGHT IT and KEEP MOVING?!

I would like to share some of my life hacks, products, discipline, and motivation because regardless of being sick, or life being hard I can’t wait to start every year on the right track!  So, even if you fall off the bandwagon, you need to get up and keep on going!

Routine:

15 minutes after I wake up I drink a warm cup of water and a slice of Lemon

I suffer from Back and Neck problems after suffering an Auto Accident 11 years ago, therefore I HAVE  to do my Yoga stretches on a daily basis before starting my day…One of my favorite stretches and method is: http://www.yogawithadriene.com

As I start getting my kids ready for School I like to drink my delicious #HerbalifeTea with some delicious #Fiber and #Aloe Thrive4Wellness

I drop off my kids to School then I hit the #gym for some light #exercise and once I’m done I come home and drink my #delicious and #nutritious #harbalife #shake so many delicious flavors to choose from!!!

I then get ready to start my work day! That is #working on my #websitedesign get my #appointments scheduled and ready to hit the streets and do what I love most #interpreting and #translating “Connecting Worlds 1 Language at a Time!

Since I suffer from an Auto-Immune Disorder I make sure that I keep my self #stressfree #eatinghealthy #exercise but more importantly I drink my daily dose of #organicoreganogrape with some orange juice (consult with your physician before starting any new product).

I also take my #VitaminD #B12 and my  #probiotics these are a must for my daily routine and keeping me out of the hospital!
