An Interpreter at Sanders event
Sanders Event Caucus wanted everything in English
I came across this article and video clip of “A translator” at “The Sanders” event, in which she’s actually an ASL Interpreter, not a translator.
This was amazing to see, seeing how (we) as interpreters can help break the language barrier in communication.
However, many will say…” Speak English, Talk English”…What if they can’t talk?
Should we deprive them of having fun; learning, “listening” to music, or understanding their providers, etc…
Now, I know we live in “America”, but I also know that there are hundreds, thousands, and millions of Spanish Speakers, as well as others who speak a second language and who feel more comfortable seeing and hearing things in their “Own Native Language”.
So, why do people get so angry, agitated, and upset when they see Spanish speakers being assisted by an “Interpreter or Translator??”…
Well on this post from February 2016 at a Sanders event, the crowd was NOT very pleased seeing a “Translator” Interpreter assist Spanish speakers.
What’s your take on this???
This is a country that was founded by immigrants and has welcomed immigrants for 1000s of years, so why has this changed?
